Columbia Dyett Award

for incoming students

Students who graduate from Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and are admitted to Columbia College Chicago are guaranteed a renewable Columbia Dyett Award.

 

The Columbia Dyett Award is open to:

  • Exceptional high school seniors who are enrolled at Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts at the time of admission to Columbia, or who have graduated from Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts no more than 12 months prior to admission
  • Admitted students entering for the first time in the Fall 2025 semester
  • Students who have earned a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Please note: Recipients of the Columbia Dyett Award are not eligible for the Chicago STAR Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, Columbia CPS Award, Columbia Creatives Award, Columbia Kelvyn Park Award, Columbia Senn Award, Columbia Curie Award, Columbia Lane Tech Award, Columbia ChiArts Award, Columbia Westinghouse Award, Columbia OneGoal Award, or Columbia Excellence Award.

Award based on:
  • Academic achievement

Renewable award amount based on Dyett High School GPA:

  • 3.75 or higher: $16,500
  • 3.55 — 3.74: $16,000
  • 3.3 — 3.54: $15,000
  • 3.0 — 3.29: $12,000

Notification of the award:

  • Recipients will be notified by Admissions.
