Hammerman Scholarship

for continuing undergraduate students

The Hammerman Scholarship was established to assist in defraying the costs of tuition for outstanding Audio Arts, BA, Sound Design, BA, and Music Technology, BS majors.

• How to be Considered

  No separate application is required for the Hammerman Scholarship.

  • Students are nominated by Audio Arts and Acoustics faculty.
• About The Hammerman Scholarship
  The Hammerman Scholarship was established in 1998 thanks to a generous gift by Sol and Celia Hammerman, brought to the then "Radio and Sound" department by Ms. Enid Long, Columbia College Trustee and the donors' daughter.
• Scholarship Terms
  • Previous amount of this one-semester scholarship was up to $1,950
  • Scholarship is awarded in the Fall 2025 semester and is not renewable
  • Scholarship is applied toward tuition only
  • Students' scholarships that are applied toward tuition may not exceed the amount of their tuition costs
  • Recipient must maintain full-time, undergraduate enrollment during the Fall 2025 semester
  • Scholarship may be used toward a study abroad program through one of Columbia's student exchange programs, excluding Summer sessions. Please note: Recipients who enroll in an independent study abroad program will forfeit their scholarship during the semester spent abroad
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
