International Buddy Award

for continuing undergraduate students

The International Buddy Award was established to recognize continuing students participating in Columbia College Chicago's International Student Buddy Program. Current Columbia students serve as a mentor to a new international student and provide them with support prior to their arrival to the U.S. and during the first 6 weeks of the fall and spring semesters.

• How to be Considered
  • Students participating in Columbia's International Student Buddy Program will be automatically considered for the International Buddy Award.
• About the International Student Buddy Program

  The International Student Buddy Program is a program designed to support new incoming international students during their first semester at Columbia College Chicago. The program matches new international students with current Columbia College students to help the new student identify social, cultural and academic pathways and expectations as a Columbia College student living in the city of Chicago.
  
  The “Buddy” is there to provide guidance and support; to answer questions about life at Columbia and in the city of Chicago; and to help incoming new international students adjust better to their new "home away from home."

  If you are interested in being a Buddy to a new international student, please email isss@colum.edu for information and application dates.

• Scholarship Terms
  • Maximum amount for Fall semester is $750
  • Maximum amount for Spring semester is $250
  • Award is not renewable
  • Award is applied toward tuition
  • Student must be enrolled full-time during the academic year they participate
  • Award is limited to courses for which a student registers through MyColumbia 
  • If you are receiving state or federal financial aid, the rules governing other sources of financial assistance will apply
