Phil Bodwell Endowed Memorial Scholarship for TV Production

For continuing undergraduate students

The Phil Bodwell Endowed Memorial Scholarship for TV Production was established to help defray the costs of tuition for TV Production students.

  No separate application is required:

  • Students are nominated by School of Film and Television faculty.
• About Phil Bodwell

  Phil Bodwell was a producer and director of TV and radio advertising. After graduating from Northwestern University, he worked for Doyle Dane Bernach Inc of New York City, where he was the company's vice president in charge of radio and TV commercials. He then relocated to Chicago where he served as executive vice president and manager of production for Ogilvy and Mather of Chicago. Bodwell was a member of the Directors Guild of America, and twice a recipient of the Golden Lions Award for Advertising in Paris, France. The Phil Bodwell Endowed Memorial Scholarship for TV Production was started in his honor by former employer Ogilvy and Mather.

• Scholarship Terms
  • Previous amount of this one-year scholarship was up to $4,250, awarded half in Fall and half in Spring
  • Scholarship is applied toward tuition only
  • Students’ scholarships that are applied toward tuition may not exceed the amount of their tuition costs
  • Recipients must maintain enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters
  • Recipients must have submitted all outstanding documents to Columbia Central before the scholarship can be disbursed. Students can review missing documents in the MyColumbia portal under MyFinancials
  • Scholarship may be used toward a study abroad program through one of Columbia's student exchange programs, excluding Summer sessions. Please note: Recipients who enroll in an independent study abroad program will forfeit their scholarship for the semester spent abroad
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the scholarship in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
