Biography

I am a filmmaker and educator based in Chicago, and Adjunct Professor of Instruction at Columbia College in CTVA where I teach an MFA course in cinemtography. I have been producing media for more than two decades with industry and independent film production experience in the fields of cinematography, film and video production, multicam television switching, livestream production, non-linear editing, animation,and live, studio, and field audio production. My work has shown in film festivals, museums, and screening series internationally including the American Film Institute, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago,  Anthology Film Archives, DocFilms, CineVegas, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Iowa City International Documentary Film Festival, Microlights, Pleasure Dome and Other Cinema. My work has been written about in publications including Art Forum, Art in America, Bomb Magazine, and Bad at Sports. I am an educator at the university level with eighteen semesters of experience, and I have designed classes based on my research interests. Multiple times, but most recently in 2024 I was named as one of Newcity Magazine’s Film 50, which recognizes “50 individuals or collaborators that have helped shape Chicago’s film scene”. My films and videos have received numerous awards, including being named Opening Night Film and receiving the Best of the Festival Jury awards at both the Chicago Underground Film Festival and Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival.
