Biography
Noted for her dramatically effective and emotionally true delivery of song, soprano Dr. Kelci Kosin has been recognized both nationally and internationally for her interpretation of new music. A frequent performer of song, opera, and musical theatre, Ms. Kosin has performed Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Mimi in La Boheme, Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte, Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica, Lola in Gallantry, Grace Farrell in Annie, and Miss Honey in Matilda.
Ms.Kosin has a passion for exploring new repertoire, including both opera and art song. She sang the role of Trang in the Chicago premiere of Daron Hagen’s opera Amelia and sang the premiere performance of Marjorie Rusche’s Middletown Chronicles, which was broadcast on PBS as a part of Indiana’s bi-centennial celebration. She premiered Dana Wilson's Love Me Like a Beautiful Dream, a song cycle for voice, horn, and piano, at the 51st International Horn Symposium in Ghent, Belgium and Frank Ferko's Cartes de la guerre for voice and organ at the Sursa American Organ Concert. Recent premieres also include Marjorie Rusche's song cycle Songs of Love and Death which were performed at the International Music by Women Festival.
Concert appearances include Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bach's Cantata No.51, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Ms. Kosin holds a Doctor of Arts in voice performance with a secondary area of emphasis in musical theatre studies from Ball State University. She currently serves as the Coordinator of Vocal Studies and Full-Time Practitioner in Residence for Voice at Columbia College Chicago where she also serves as the Faculty Advising Fellow for music students.
