Biography

Matt P. Andersen, Assistant Professor in the Department of American Sign Language (SIGN), and teaches all levels of American Sign Language and several Deaf Studies related courses. Matt's interest lies in remote education, and he is currently in the process of contributing to bodies of research on various topics relating to sign language education and digital tools. Matt is one of the recipients of the Columbia College 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award. He holds a Master's degree in Sign Language Education (Gallaudet University, 2019) and a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication and Advertising/Public Relations (Rochester Institution of Technology, 2008). Matt is currently serving as the vice president of this national level organization, "ASL Teachers Association," and is certified as a Certified Canvas Educator and ASL proficiency assessor.
