Biography

Philip von Zweck is the Academic Manager for the Art and Art History Department and the Academic Manager for the Design Department, he frequently teaches Sculpture or Foundations Studio.

He has had solo exhibitions and projects at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Performa, NY; Three-Walls, Chicago; INVISIBLE-EXPORTS, New York; Gallery 400, Chicago; Pilot Projects, Philadelphia; 65GRAND, Chicago, he is represented by 65GRAND, Chicago.

From 2005-2008 he ran the art gallery VONZWECK in his living room, for several years he operated D Gallery out of his office at Columbia College. He has curated or co-curated numereous exhibitions in Chicago, Brooklyn and Marquette, MI. His publications include Artists Run Chicago (Hyde Park Art Center), Heartland (Van Abbemuseum), Phonebook (three-walls) Afterall and The Portable Gray.

He produced and hosted Something Else a week radio program of sound art, live performance and experimental music from 1995-2010 and co-founded and executive produced Blindspot an experimnental live to air radio program/ collaborative group.

He was a recipient of the The Richard H. Driehaus Individual Artist Award.

He earned an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
