Counseling Services

If you are having a life-threatening emergency, please contact 911, or go immediately to the nearest Emergency Room.

Counseling Services is offering One-Time appointments to Columbia students seeking mental health support toward the second half of the semester.

The goal of these appointments is to ensure that students interested in starting ongoing therapy late in the semester receive care that is clinically suited to brief intervention. Counseling Services offers this approach to ensure that students do not spend weeks identifying the issue at hand only to end the semester and start break without the issue addressed in depth. You can use this appointment in one of two ways – one, to receive assistance linking with community referrals for services that aren’t timebound, or two, to discuss current issues on a one-time basis and walk away with tangible coping skills and resources.

During this appointment, you will complete paperwork, meet with a clinician to discuss your concerns, and determine the most helpful course of action. We ask that you bring your insurance card to assist in finding community providers in your area if applicable.

Your personal wellbeing is important as you manage the combined stresses of finishing your semester strong, as well as the day-to-day challenges and current events.
