Columbia College Chicago Theatre and Music Alumni and Faculty Nominated for 2024 Joseph Jefferson Awards

PhotoChuck Smith, a former Theatre faculty member who is now the resident director at Goodman Theatre, is among those nominated for a Jeff Award this year.
This year's nominees include individuals from Columbia's Theatre and Music programs working in performance, design, direction, choreography, and musical composition.

Congratulations to alumni, former students, and current and former faculty members who have been nominated for the 2024 Joseph Jefferson Awards, Chicago’s top theatre award. The Equity “Jeff Awards” honor excellence in Chicago’s Equity theatre during the 2023-2024 theatre season.

  • Conchita Avitia - (Lighting Design, Midsize) for "The Brightest Thing in the World"
  • Paul Deziel - Projection Design for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

Sound Design

Jeffrey Levin (nominated thrice for sound design in "Eurydice," "Selling Kabul," and "Turret"

Original Music

Jeffrey Levin - Original Music in a Play for "Turret"

Direction

  • Daryl D. Brooks - Director, Revue for "The Time Machine: A Tribute to the '80s"
  • Vanessa Stalling - Director, Play (Large) for "The Lehman Trilogy"
