Columbia College Chicago’s Carolina Posse Selected for Prestigious Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship
Columbia College Chicago is proud to announce that Carolina Posse, associate director and associate professor in the School of Film and Television, has been awarded the esteemed Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship by the Television Academy Foundation in Hollywood. Posse is among 18 distinguished professors chosen from colleges and universities nationwide for the 2024 fellowship program.
The Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowships honor the memory of the beloved "Jeopardy!" host, offering essential financial support for educators attending the Foundation’s annual Media Educators Conference. Scheduled for October 9-11 at the Television Academy’s North Hollywood campus, the three-day event aims to bridge the gap between academia and the television industry. Participants will engage in curriculum-enhancing seminars led by prominent industry leaders, focusing on the latest developments in the art, science, and business of television.
The fellowship provides financial support covering registration fees, travel, and hotel accommodations, with a preference for applicants from minority-serving institutions. The program is made possible through a generous contribution from the Harry & Judy Friedman Family Foundation.
Also serving as producing area coordinator at Columbia, Posse is an acclaimed media producer and educator, known for her impactful work in the arts nonprofit sector. She previously served as the Programming Director and Interim Director of the Chicago Latino Film Festival. Posse has been an influential presence on juries for organizations such as the Sundance Institute and Latino Public Broadcasting, and she has participated in multiple international film festivals. Her producing credits include works like “The Scary Ham” (2018), “This is Cindy” (2019), "American Fumble" (2019) and “American Parent” (2023).
In addition to her production accomplishments, Posse teaches a range of courses including creative producing, story development and advanced capstone productions, enriching the educational experience for her students at Columbia.
The Television Academy Foundation, established in 1959, is committed to preserving the legacy of television while nurturing the next generation of industry leaders. Through initiatives like the Media Educators Conference, the Foundation seeks to enhance the representation and opportunities within the television landscape.
Congratulations to Carolina Posse for this remarkable achievement.
