The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication recognizes the Columbia College Chicago student publication for its exceptional creativity in showcasing Chicago's Latino artistic community.

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), a leading organization in the field of communications and journalism, recently honored Columbia College Chicago’s “Wanderer” publication with a silver award in Student Graphic Design for its Chicago LatinArtists edition at the 2023-2024 AEJMC Festival of Visual and Interactive Media. “Wanderer” earned its recognition in the Student General Design category.

The award-winning 44-page issue highlights the rich diversity of Latino, Latina, and Latinx artists based in Chicago. This special edition is the result of a collaborative effort between students from the Visual Communication and People, Power and Narrative: Latino Voices courses at Columbia, which were guided by Associate Professor Elio Leturia.

In this project, Visual Communication students took charge of editing, designing, and laying out the magazine as their final course project. Meanwhile, students from the People, Power and Narrative: Latino Voices course contributed by reporting, writing, and providing the photography. The combination of their talents and hard work resulted in a visually compelling publication.

This achievement underscores the exceptional skills and dedication of our students, reflecting the high standards at Columbia College Chicago.
