Welcome to the Spring 2024 Semester
We are thrilled to announce that the Spring 2024 semester has begun, and we are looking forward to welcoming all students back to the campus. This semester promises to be an exciting one, with plenty of fantastic events and activities planned. Our goal is to help students have a productive and enjoyable semester, and we encourage students to take advantage of all the available resources, including academic support services, student organization events, and campus facilities. We wish students, faculty, and staff the best of luck as we begin the new semester. Here are a couple of things to look forward to this spring.
Start the Year Strong
Students with New Year’s resolutions are in luck. January has plenty of opportunities to start the semester off on the right foot. Students can make vision boards with the office of Student Diversity and Inclusion on January 25 to set their intentions for the year to come. The Career Center, which is open to current students and alumni, also has a variety of events to get the year started, including sessions on finding an internship, getting an on-campus job, and developing an impactful LinkedIn presence. These chances for growth aren't limited to the beginning of the year either. Career Center events like CODE are frequent throughout the semester.
Brighter Days Ahead
After experiencing frigid temperatures last week, it is safe to say that winter has arrived in Chicago. However, it is worth marking your calendars for March 10, 2024, as this is when Daylight Saving Time will begin. At 2 a.m., the clock will move forward by one hour, resulting in an earlier sunrise and a later sunset. Soon, students will be leaving their second or third class of the day, and the sun will still be out!
Celebrating the Class of 2024
It is time to prepare for graduation. The Grad Expo is happening this spring semester, and it is the perfect opportunity to ensure that seniors are on the path to graduation. There will be four sessions where graduates can speak with academic advisors and Columbia Central. Students can also order caps and gowns, take graduation and professional photos, sign up for alumni membership, and much more! We encourage graduates to take advantage of this chance to prepare for their big day.
Spring Grad Expo
- Wednesday, April, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Thursday, April 4, 3-6 p.m.
Commencement
- Graduates get ready to shine in your graduation cap and gown because Columbia College Chicago will be holding four in-person Commencement ceremonies on May 11 and 12, 2024, at the Arie Crown Theater, located at 2301 S. Jean Baptiste DuSable Lake Shore Drive. All graduates will be given six tickets. If you intend to participate in the ceremony, please continue to monitor your Columbia email, the Commencement website, or the All Things Commencement group in the Engage Portal.
Talent on Display
Countdown to Manifest! The festival is returning to the Wabash Arts Corridor on Friday, May 10. It is a fantastic event that celebrates creative arts, and the best part is that it is free! You will get to witness a variety of interactive art, music, and visuals created by the talented students of Columbia College Chicago. Be sure to follow the Manifest Instagram and Facebook page for more information.
