Columbia College Chicago Selects Barnes and Noble College to Manage Bookstore Operations
CHICAGO — Columbia College Chicago will partner with Barnes & Noble College to manage its campus bookstore located at 624 S. Michigan Avenue. Barnes & Noble College will be responsible for in-store and online bookstore operations.
Barnes & Noble College was chosen because of its ability to integrate the needs of creative and artistic students and faculty while offering affordable learning materials, including new, used and digital books, a robust textbook rental program, and a Price Match program.
Barnes & Noble College will also offer an enhanced product assortment of clothing, gifts, school supplies, technology, and more, which students, faculty, and alumni can browse both in-store and online.
“Columbia is impressed with Barnes & Noble College’s business proposal and its focus on supporting and bolstering the Columbia College Chicago brand and values,” said Jerry Tarrer, Vice President of Business Affairs for Columbia. “The bookstore will feature student work and provide opportunities for them to market to consumers along Michigan Avenue.”
In addition to supporting the academic success of Columbia College Chicago students, Barnes & Noble College will also provide opportunities for students to grow and succeed outside of the classroom. The bookstore plans to hire Columbia College Chicago students to work in the store, ensuring the Columbia College Chicago spirit and student voice remains prevalent in bookstore operations.
Barnes & Noble College will drive significant cost savings for Columbia College Chicago students. Faculty will gain access to FacultyEnlight, an advanced online textbook adoption platform that offers a step-by-step guide for course material adoptions, peer reviews, adoption history, and the ability to compare prices and formats.
“We are very proud to partner with Columbia College Chicago,” said Barry Brover, Executive Vice President, Barnes & Noble College. “In addition to driving academic success through greater access to affordable learning materials, our store will help foster creativity and provide an opportunity for the talented students of Columbia College Chicago to display their artwork in a prominent Chicago location.
