Blackstone Hotel Features Columbia Musicians Three Nights a Week
Columbia College Chicago Music students and alums perform weekly at the Blackstone Hotel lobby bar on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Blackstone Hotel, a Chicago historic landmark that was once the tallest building in Chicago, is part of Columbia’s vibrant South Loop community and is located at 636 S. Michigan Avenue.
Through October, keyboardist and vocalist Eric Rutherford ‘17 and students Joshua Trimble and Trevor Stewart (both guitarists and vocalists) will perform on alternating nights.
The partnership between Columbia’s Music department and the Blackstone started in 2018 but was put on hold due to COVID-19 in the winter of 2020. Performances returned this past summer, providing valuable opportunities for students and alums.
Come support Columbia musicians and enjoy the music in this historic hotel, which once listed Harry S. Truman and John F. Kennedy among its guests and housed the barbershop where Al Capone held court while having his hair cut.
