Columbia Faculty Member Helps Create Upcoming Art on the Mart Exhibit
Columbia Graphic Design faculty member Guy Villa, Jr. collaborated with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and the Chicago Design Archive (CDA) on a forthcoming Art on the Mart exhibit Chicago Design Through the Decades.
As designers and educators, Guy Villa, Jr. along with UIC’s Sharon Oiga and Daria Tsoupikova led a team of creators and archivists with the goal to increase the understanding and appreciation of Chicago’s design history and contribute to the recognition of Chicago as an international modern design center through their use of innovative technologies.
Chicago Design Through the Decades is a swift, exciting journey through the history of Chicago design over the last one hundred years, with content based on resources from the CDA’s collection. The exhibition runs nightly from November 18–December 30, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. The Merchandise Mart is located at 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza in Chicago.
