The Columbia Dance Center Receives CityArts Program Grant
The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago recently received a CityArts program grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). The funding will go towards a Dance Center project titled "Chicago Artists Spotlight Platform."The project will spotlight 10 Chicago dance artists who will each teach a class in their Chicago neighborhood, a virtual class, and be featured in a variety of public forums.
The project aligns with the Year of Chicago Dance initiative, a citywide, year-long focus on dance that aims to address critical issues facing Chicago’s dancers and the field of dance including funding, space, and capacity building.
The DCASE Cultural Grants Program strives to elevate Chicago’s arts and culture community, promote access to the breadth of arts and cultural programming in the city, and support those not typically represented in traditional local funding infrastructures. This year DCASE gave out 280 grants totaling $6.5 million to support Chicago nonprofit arts organizations.
