Fashion Study Collection Wedding Salon on March 16 and 23

The Fashion Study Collection at Columbia, which includes wedding attire and wedding-related items, is home to more than 6,000 items dating back to the 1840s.

The Fashion Study Collection invites the Columbia College Chicago community to its first-ever salon, which explores the history of cross-cultural wedding attire. The salon will be held March 16, 6 to 7 p.m., and March 23, 2 to 3 p.m. at 618 S. Michigan, Room 801B. At the salon, attendees can explore wedding dresses, veils, fashion plates, and other wedding-related items dating from the 1840s to present day. The collection includes wedding attire from various countries, including Japan, India, and Nigeria. Planned for the Columbia faculty and students, this student-led event is an opportunity to learn about wedding trends and traditions through the decades and features in-depth histories created by the student workers.

The Fashion Study Collection at Columbia College Chicago was founded in 1989 and is home to more than 6,000 items including designer garments, representing every decade from the 1840s to present. The Collection, which includes items from nearly every continent, provides a visual history of fashion and cultural history of dress. Typically, the Collection is open to the Columbia community and the public by appointment. Fashion-related donations are also accepted by the Collection.
