Sophomore Fashion Studies Student Awarded Rising Star Scholarship
Congratulations to Fashion Studies sophomore Mollie Baker, who was recently named Columbia College Chicago’s Rising Star, earning her a travel scholarship from the NRF Foundation. The Rising Stars Scholarship was created to teach younger students about the variety of career opportunities available in the retail industry, and to encourage them to attend the NRF Foundation Student Program early in their academic careers.
The scholarship from the NRF Foundation will allow Baker to attend the 2023 NRF Foundation Student Program, which takes place January 12 to 15 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
Concentrating in Product Development, Baker is looking forward to attending and hearing from such industry leaders as the Chief Sustainability Officer for Levi’s and representatives from Macy’s and Tommy Hilfiger. She is excited to learn more about their brands and experiences. In New York, she will be joined by Fashion in the Field students attending the event and also hear from Columbia alums Amaiya Sims and Robert Davison-Long, who are past NRF Foundation Next Generation Scholarship winners.
“Receiving this award is especially important to me because of the connections I will form and how they will help me progress in the future, along with the great people I'm going to meet, learn from, and share the experience with,” Baker says.
