Communication Associate Professor Invites Acclaimed Performer to Columbia
On Thursday, March 23, from 4 to 5 p.m., Associate Professor Elio Leturia will interview Puerto Rican singer and performer Ana Santos in his Latino Voices class. It takes place at Stage 2, 618 S. Michigan Ave., second floor. After the interview, Ana will sing three songs. The event is open to all students and faculty.
Ana starred in Dominican Rey Andújar’s play La Gran Tirana: Descarga Dramática. The play was directed by Cuban Sándor Menéndez and is the first Spanish play to be “Jeff Recommended.” Ana has been nominated for a Jeff Award in the Best Performer in a Principal role category. The Jeffs will be awarded on March 27.
Her role in the play, Ana Morgana, is inspired by the life of La Lupe, the Cuban singer.
