Students
Are you a motivated, curious, and creative student? Do you want to gain experience working on real-life research and consulting projects? The Fashion Lab is a great opportunity to develop marketable, transferable skills in consumer research, design thinking, professional consulting, persuasion, and the presentation of innovative ideas.
The lab encourages cross-disciplinary experience. The Fashion Lab is open to any student at Columbia. You don't have to be a Fashion Studies major to participate. There are no course prerequisites for participation. Each semester, the Fashion Lab accepts applications from students and builds a team based on the participating organizations' needs. If accepted, you will be enrolled in a 3-credit course called “The Fashion Lab Practicum.” In the Practicum, you will be assigned to a project based on your interests and skills. Students in good standing with the Lab can enroll in the Practicum as many times as they want. In fact, we recommend at least three in order to maximize skill- and resume-building opportunities.
