Carol Cohen Award

for continuing undergraduate students

The Carol Cohen Award was established to assist Theatre Design and Technology majors and Theatre Arts Production and Practice majors with a concentration in Design and Technology with expenses related to research projects within their studies. Research expenses may include but are not limited to conferences, workshops, study abroad, and research trips. The award may also be used to facilitate other experiences related to the student's studies to help complete a project.

Deadline to Apply:

  • Spring 2026 Award: November 15, 2025 11:59pm

  • Enrolled as full-time Theatre Design and Technology major or Theatre Arts Production and Practice major with a concentration in Design and Technology during the Fall 2025 semester
    • Full-time students in other majors who are completing design and technical work in the Theatre Department may receive faculty approval to apply for the Carol Cohen Award
  • Students who will complete a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of the Spring 2026 semester
  • Will have a well-defined research project, that may include travel, to be completed during the Dpring 2026 term;
  • Will enroll during th Spring 2026 semester;
  • Will enroll full-time during the 2025-26 academic year;
  • Students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher

Award based on:
  • Clarity of the research project proposal and academic merit
Award amount:
  • Stipend up to $1,000
    Note: Award cannot exceed total cost of the research project
