Pougialis Fine Art Award

For continuing undergraduate students

The Pougialis Fine Art Award is a yearly competition that offers promising Fine Arts majors an opportunity to study as an apprentice with a senior artist of national and international standing for one semester and have an exhibition in a DEPS gallery. Scholarship applicants are expected to produce and later install creative work for the competition. In addition, the award is to help defray the cost of tuition.

The Pougialis Fine Art Award is open to:

  • Full-time, undergraduate Fine Art majors 
  • Completed a minimum of 30 credit hours, with at least 12 credit hours at Columbia by the end of the Fall 2024 semester 
  • Students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Students who are able to submit creative work in Fine Art that demonstrates strong accomplishment, talent, and ability
  • International students may apply
Award based on:
  • Academic merit
  • Demonstration of talent, ability, and/or accomplishment in Fine Art
Award amounts:
  • First Place: Up to $5,350 awarded towards tuition in Fall 2025 and a semester-long mentorship with a leading Chicago-based artist
  • Second Place: Up to $2,250 awarded towards tuition in Fall 2025
  • In addition, both awardees will have an exhibition in one of the DEPS galleries in Spring or Summer 2026.
