Quincy Wong Scholarship

For continuing undergraduate students

The Quincy Wong Scholarship was created to help defray the cost of tuition for a full-time undergraduate student who is able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the Asian and Asian-American arts communities.

• How to Apply

  Visit Internal Scholarships and click on APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS to access the College-Wide Undergraduate Scholarship Application. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

  Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Quincy Wong Scholarship application. There are three parts to the application:

  PART 1: PROJECT PROPOSAL

  Provide a one- to two-page project proposal that outlines your creative project. Projects may include visual arts exhibit, film screenings, concerts, fiction/non-fiction writing, poetry, etc.
  
  Your proposal should:

  • Describe the scope and significance of your project;
  • Explain how it will involve Asian and Asian-American culture, themes, or stories;
  • Make clear whether it is a work in progress or a completed work;
  • Identify the goal of your poject and the impact you'd like it to have on your audience.
    
    

  Your proposal must include your name and MyColumbia ID number in the upper right-hand corner of each page. Please upload your proposal in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.

  
  PART 2: WORK SAMPLE

  Provide a sample of your work that is related to your proposed project. Your project may be a work in progress.

  You must submit your work sample in one of the following formats:

  • Images: .jpg, .png, .gif
  • Video: .mov, .wmv, .flv, .mp4; or upload a .pdf, .doc, or .docx document with an external link to your video
  • Audio: .mp3
  • Documents .pdf, .doc, .docx

  PART 3: FAFSA SUBMISSION SUMMARY

  A current FAFSA Submission Summary must be on file. To receive a FAFSA Submission Summary, students must complete a 2025-26 financial aid application (FAFSA) by February 1, 2025.

• About Quincy Wong

  Quincy Wong, the late actor, model, director, writer, and producer, passed away on July 8, 2002 in Evanston, Illinois, at the age of 48.

  The Wong family, along with many friends and supporters, established the Quincy Wong Endowment Fund at the Center for Asian Arts and Media at Columbia College Chicago in honor of his outstanding artistic achievements and his influence in the development of Asian Pacific American arts in Chicago.

  Hokin Annex, a multidisciplinary performance space at Columbia College's 623 S. Wabash Ave. Building, has been renamed "The Quincy Wong Center for Artistic Expression."

  Columbia College Chicago recognizes the generosity of the Wong family and friends who so fervently embraced Quincy's lifelong pursuit and CAAM's mission to advance the arts and media by and about Asians and Asian Americans.

  

• Scholarship Terms
  • Application must be submitted by February 1, 2025 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
  • Previous amount of this one-year scholarship was up to $3,950, awarded half in Fall and half in Spring
  • Scholarship is applied toward tuition only
  • Students’ scholarships that are applied toward tuition may not exceed the amount of their tuition costs
  • Recipients must maintain full-time, undergraduate enrollment during the 2025-26 academic year
  • Recipients who graduate in Fall 2025 may receive the full scholarship amount in Fall 2025
  • The project that is submitted by the scholarship winner will be included in the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration sponsored by Student Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Recipients must have submitted all outstanding documents to Columbia Central before the scholarship can be disbursed. Students can review missing documents in the MyColumbia portal under MyFinancials
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the scholarship in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
