What made you choose Columbia?
Considering I am from Chicago, I've always loved Columbia and Downtown. What made me choose Columbia was how strong their Film & Television program is and knowing I'll be close to home. Columbia also has a strong name for themselves and strong connections that I'll be able to utilize.
What do you plan on studying during your time here?
During my time at Columbia I plan to major in Film & Television with a minor in photography. I've had experience with Film since I was 9 years old and have grown since then. I am now able to showcase my talents and learn from others while studying at Columbia.
What are your career goals at this time?
In the future, I plan to become a Film Director. I've had this career in mind after seeing the creations from other Film Directors such as Ava DuVernay, Spike Lee, or Kenny Ortega.
What do you most look forward to about learning and creating in Chicago?
What I'm looking forward to is being able to connect with other students around the world. We all have grown up differently, lived in different cities, and have different ideas. Bringing us all together in a big city like Chicago, which has a lot of history itself, will be amazing to see.
How do you see your artistic practice engaging with contemporary events?
I see my artistic practice engaging with current events by going to take pictures of ceremonies or rallies live. I also want to engage by creating graphic design post to keep others around me more aware of different situations.
