Alum Krista Franklin at the Poetry Foundation

Art and Art History alum Krista Franklin MFA ’13 has two events featuring both her visual art and book at the Poetry Foundation for the month of December. On December 14, Franklin’s poetry collection Under the Knife will be discussed as part of the Library Book Club, a monthly book group open to the public moderated by library staff. According to the book’s publisher Candor Arts, the collection of poems by Franklin is “Part memoir, part treatise, part collage, and experiment [about the] illusion of memory, the pathologies of history, and the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves.” Space for the Library Book Club is limited to 15 participants. Those interested in reading and discussing Under the Knife can register by emailing library@poetryfoundation.org.

Also, Franklin’s visual art exhibition …to take root among the stars will be on display through January 24 at the Poetry Foundation. Franklin’s collage work is a “’mapping’ project where Afrofuturist and AfroSurrealist thought is traced, imagined, and archived on handmade paper.”
