Peyton Knowski
Musical Theatre Performance BFA '23
“[At Columbia] I learned that, despite facing the challenges of a global pandemic, we can still foster a sense of community among artists,” says recent Musical Theatre Performance graduate Peyton Knowski.
What would you say has been the most surprising thing you learned at Columbia?
I learned that, despite facing the challenges of a global pandemic, we can still foster a sense of community among artists. I also learned that art easily survives and transcends many forms when we need it most.
What individuals or programs at Columbia were helpful to you in reaching your goal of graduating?
I have been extremely fortunate to be surrounded by many current and former faculty members here at Columbia. I can never give enough thanks to Andra Velis Simon, Justin Brill, and David Fiorello for their dedication to helping me grow as a performer and a human being.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to stay in the city to pursue the theatre scene here before making any decisions on moving somewhere else!
If you were going to sum up your experience at Columbia in one sentence, what would you say?
Despite the tumultuous nature of the pandemic, it was still a worthwhile investment.
